Already own a domain somewhere else? You can transfer it to ZedgeHost so your domain and hosting live in one account — one login, one invoice, one support team. Your website and email keep working during the transfer; nothing goes offline.
✅ Before you start — at your current registrar
- Unlock the domain (turn off Registrar Lock / Transfer Lock)
- Get the EPP / Auth code (also called transfer code or secret code)
- Make sure the domain is not expired and was not registered/transferred in the last ~60 days (registries block transfers in that window)
- Make sure you can read the admin email on the domain — a confirmation may be sent there
Steps
- Go to my.zedgehost.com → Store → Transfer Domains.
- Type your domain name and search.
- Enter the EPP/Auth code when asked.
- Add to cart and complete checkout, then pay the invoice using the instructions on it.
- Approve the confirmation email if your current registrar sends one (clicking their link usually speeds things up).
- Wait for completion — transfers typically finish within 5–7 days. Your website and email keep working normally throughout.
✅ Result: The domain appears in your client area under Domains → My Domains, managed by ZedgeHost from now on. For most domain endings, the transfer also adds 1 year to the expiry date.
⚠ Common mistakes & fixes
- Domain still locked: the transfer fails immediately. Go back to the old registrar, switch the lock OFF, and start again.
- Wrong EPP code: copy it exactly — codes are case-sensitive and a stray space breaks them.
- Transfer seems stuck after a week: check the admin email for an unapproved confirmation — or open a support ticket and we will check the transfer status for you.
- Just renewed at the old registrar? Wait ~45 days before transferring, otherwise the new year you just paid for may not carry over on some endings.
