Your domain contact details are the official record of who owns the domain. If they are wrong or outdated, you can miss renewal notices, fail ownership verification, or even lose the domain. Keeping them current takes two minutes.
✅ Before you start
- Log in to your client area at my.zedgehost.com
- Have the new details ready — and access to the new email address if you are changing it (a verification message may be sent there)
Steps
- Open Domains → My Domains.
- Click the domain you want to update to open its management page.
- Open the "Contact Information" tab/section.
- Edit the fields — name, organization (if any), email, phone and address.
- Save the changes.
- Verify your email if asked — if a verification message arrives at the new address, complete it promptly; unverified contacts can get the domain suspended by the registry.
✅ Result: The domain's official contact record now shows your correct details, and all registry notices (renewals, transfers, verification) reach the right person.
Worth knowing: for many global domain endings, changing the registrant name or email counts as an ownership change and can place a temporary transfer lock (up to 60 days) on the domain. Plan contact changes and transfers in the right order — update contacts first if you are about to transfer in, and ask us if the timing matters.
⚠ Common mistakes & fixes
- Changing email to one you can't open: verification and password links go there. Always use an inbox you control.
- Using a nickname or fake name: the contact record is your proof of ownership. If a dispute ever happens, false details work against you.
- Updating your account profile only: your client-area profile and your domain contact record are two different things — update the domain's Contact Information itself.
