You've pointed your domain at ZedgeHost, waited, and the website still doesn't open — or opens to the wrong thing. Work through these causes in order; one of them is yours.
The causes, most common first
- Propagation isn't finished. Nameserver changes take 4–24 hours to spread worldwide. Check with a public DNS checker: if some locations already show the new nameservers (ns1/ns2.my.zedgehost.com), you're just waiting — see the Propagation guide.
- The nameservers have a typo. One wrong letter at the registrar and the domain resolves nowhere. Compare them character by character with ns1.my.zedgehost.com and ns2.my.zedgehost.com.
- The domain isn't added to your hosting. Pointing DNS is only half the job — the domain must also exist on the account. cPanel → Domains: your main domain is automatic; extra domains must be created there (see the Addon Domain guide).
- Nothing lives in the folder yet. A correctly-connected domain with an empty folder shows a directory listing error or a default page. Upload your site — or install WordPress — into that domain's folder (public_html for the main domain).
- You're testing the www version only (or the non-www only). During propagation the two can behave differently for a while; test both before concluding anything.
- Your browser is showing you yesterday's cached answer. Test in a private window, and on your phone's mobile data, before changing any setting.
✅ How it should end: DNS checker shows our nameservers everywhere, the domain exists in cPanel, files are in its folder — and the site opens on both www and non-www, on Wi-Fi and mobile data alike.
⚠ Common mistakes & fixes
- Changing the records again every hour: each change restarts parts of propagation. Make the correct change once, verify it with the checker, then hands off.
- Mixing methods — nameservers changed AND A records edited at the old DNS: once nameservers point here, DNS is managed HERE (cPanel Zone Editor). Records edited at the old provider do nothing.
- After 48 hours it still fails everywhere: now open a ticket with the domain name and a screenshot of your registrar's nameserver settings — that's the fastest route to eyes on it.
